A semi fictional account of the early years in silent movies especially regarding Louise Brooks and Clara Bow. I enjoyed the story but felt sad that both women blamed themselves for their downfalls.
For the price, well worth it. Enjoyable hours of reading.
For anyone who likes old Hollywood, this is a must read. Keeps your interst and tells a good story.I couldn't put it down and so much of it tells the way it was in the good old days.
Even though you would think it was written by the celebs themselves it wasn't. I don't know how much is true from the author but it is a good fast read.
I'm a big fan of the people from this era, but this book was a lttle too sleasy for my taste, I could not finish it.
The fact that this book only costs $3.00 to buy on , should not deter you from buying it. I've bought a few others for the small sum that were dreadful. But this one is an excellent read. The author got into the heads of his subjects and he seems to have understood them. If you are a lover of Old Hollywood stories and actors, this novel brings a good one to life. The focus is split between Clara Bow and Louise Brookes and you meet Charlie Chaplin and others during their journeys. I can't praise it enough. I ordered it through Prime and loved it so much I purchased it.
Not a bad book, but basically about Louise Brooks' sex life. Being written by a man, and in novel form, I wonder just how much is his fantasy? Granted, Louise was known for her unconventionality, but was she was free as was written in this book? The book mentions the "casting couch", which I'm sure existed, and names her historical suitors. It's a pretty good read if you're interested in the Golden Age of Hollywood, just be aware there's a lot of sex in it. Makes me wonder how and when any pictures were ever made!
